"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." 1 Peter 3:3-6

Kids' Night with the Anchorage Bucs

Last night I had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the Anchorage Bucs baseball games, as the celebrated Kids' Night. Despite the cloudy skies and Holiday weekend, there was a pretty good Friday night crowd as the Bucs took on the Mat-Su Miners.

One of my husband's summer school students happened to be singing the National Anthem and did an impressive job, too. After she wrapped up, Eddie the Eagle and I both took our turns at throwing out a ceremonial first pitch to kick off the game.

My family was there with me so the girls were able to enjoy some of the special activities they had going on for kids. We met Eddie the Eagle, who is a NRA character teaching kids about gun safety. Eddie has his own coloring book, comic book and DVD. We visited with APD K-9 dogs and had fun watching the kids participate in games between innings. It started to sprinkle just as it was time for me to help with one of the games, so they cancelled the kids' game since the field was starting to get wet and slippery and kids were supposed to run around barefoot during the game. But, it was a fun night regardless and I enjoyed my time meeting some of the Bucs staff and getting to visit with folks in the crowd, and of course, cheer on our hometown team.
